Ancient Input Privacy Policy

Keyboard input

When Ancient Input is enabled as a keyboard, Android allows it to send the keys you select to the text field in the app you are currently using. Ancient Input processes those key selections on your device and passes the selected Unicode characters to the receiving app through Android’s input-method system.

Ancient Input does not log, save or transmit the text you type. The app in which you enter text may collect or process that text according to its own privacy policy. Hod Publishing Ltd. does not control how another app handles text entered into it.

Settings stored on your device

Ancient Input stores a small number of preferences on your device, such as your active script, preferred keyboard layout and selected character forms. These preferences do not contain the text you type and are not sent to Hod Publishing Ltd.

Android backup

Ancient Input is configured to disallow Android backup of its app data. Its locally stored preferences are therefore not intentionally included in Android cloud backup or device-transfer backup by the app.

Permissions and network access

Ancient Input does not request internet access and does not request access to your location, contacts, camera, microphone, photos, files or advertising identifier. It uses Android’s input-method functionality solely to operate as a keyboard.

Analytics, advertising and accounts

Ancient Input contains no analytics, crash-reporting or advertising SDKs, displays no advertising and does not require an account. The app does not send usage statistics, typed content or device identifiers to Hod Publishing Ltd.

Google Play, Android and external links

IPA reference recordings are bundled with the app and play locally on your device. Google Play and Android may process purchase, installation, security and diagnostic information as part of distributing and operating the app. Google may make transaction or diagnostic reports available to Hod Publishing Ltd. Hod Publishing Ltd. uses information made available through Google Play only for distribution, customer support, refunds, accounting, fraud prevention and legal compliance. That processing is provided by Google and is governed by the Google Privacy Policy and your Google account settings; Ancient Input itself does not access or transmit that information.

Ancient Input may also provide links that open Google Play, this Privacy Policy, or external pages containing source and licence information. These links are opened by your browser or another installed app; Ancient Input does not receive your browsing activity. The destination service may process information under its own privacy policy.

Data retention and deletion

Because Hod Publishing Ltd. does not collect personal data through Ancient Input, it has no server-held app data to retain or delete. Locally stored preferences can be removed by clearing the app’s storage or uninstalling the app.

Records made available through Google Play may be retained as needed for customer support, accounting, tax, fraud-prevention and legal obligations. Some records cannot be deleted immediately where retention is required by law. You can use the contact details below to ask about information held by Hod Publishing Ltd.

Security

Ancient Input stores its preferences in the app’s private storage, which is protected by Android’s application sandbox. The app does not transmit those preferences or typed text over a network. Information processed by Google Play or Android is protected according to Google’s own security practices and policies.

Children’s privacy

Ancient Input is not designed to collect personal information from children or adults, and Hod Publishing Ltd. does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone through the app.

Your choices

You can disable Ancient Input at any time in Android’s keyboard settings. You can also clear its locally stored preferences or uninstall it through Android’s app settings.

Changes to this policy

Hod Publishing Ltd. may update this Privacy Policy if Ancient Input’s features or data practices change. The revised policy will be published on this page with a new effective date. If a future version begins collecting personal data, the app and this policy will be updated with the disclosures and choices required by applicable law and Google Play policy.
